She has since worked in multidisciplinary environments such as a Chiropractic and Physiotherapy clinic, as well as in a spa.
She performs Swedish massage for both therapeutic and relaxation purposes, focusing on assessment and utilizing a variety of techniques from joint play to advanced myofascial work to help alleviate her clients’ discomfort. She believes massage can be a valuable tool for treating injuries, coping with occupational stresses and chronic pain, as well increasing overall relaxation.
She is always interested in learning new things to incorporate into her clients' treatments. These would include: Thai massage, reflexology, hot & cold stone massage, as well as TMJ (jaw) Dysfunction treatments.

Pregnancy & Postnatal Massage Specialist
Kyla Laxton is a registered massage therapist who graduated from Sutherland Chan in 2003. Since, graduating she has dedicated her practice to treating pregnant and post- partum women. Kyla joined Balance Integrated Health Care in 2008 after previously working at the Ella Centre for Pregnancy and Parenting. Laxton has always had a passion for working with women in this stage of life. Being a mother herself has given her a deeper insight into the stresses that women’s bodies endure. Kyla supports the new mother through the various challenges of parenthood including physical discomfort, emotional struggles and coping with the transition into parenthood.
From ‘nursing back’ to sleepless nights, from hormonal changes to not having any time to yourself, massage therapy does more than relax. Massage therapy loosens tight muscles, increases blood flow and helps flush out toxins to improve your overall health. It revitalizes tired muscles, improves posture and strengthens a woman’s connection to her body.

Marion Penny RMT
An avid runner and former ballet dancer, Marion is no stranger to the benefits of massage therapy and other forms of body work.
Taking an active interest in anatomy, body biomechanics, remedial exercise and sports medicine, Marion decided to return to school where she graduated from Sutherland Chan in 2008. Her philosophy is learning how to maintain a state of balance in all aspects of life: mind, body and spirit.

At Women’s College Hospital, she worked in the High Risk Pregnancy Unit with pre- and post-partum women. Her internship at Princess Margaret Lodge involved assisting patients undergoing Cancer treatment.
Marion practices deep tissue Swedish massage, alongside other modalities which include fascial techniques, joint mobilizations, stretching techniques, lymph drainage, pressure points, active release, and hydrotherapy.
While Marion’s experience is varied, her focus is geared towards sports massage, pre- and post- pregnancy care, and oncology.
Recognizing a need for massage therapy in the health care system, particularly in palliative and long term care, Marion oversees a wide range of clients in need of pain and stress management.
